There has been plenty of mixers these days and the more we hear about them the less and less interest from followers. How do you keep them interested? Can you really surge from nowhere and remain in the game for the long run?

So many people, after the effects of the recession, branched out on their own. Most of them victims of being laid off. It is funny, because in my case, the recession, crisis, whatever you want to call it, was not really the real reason why I took the drastic change. Don’t get me wrong, I was laid off, worked mediocre jobs just to pay the bills, and all that jazz. But the truth is that I have always had communications tendencies. For as long as I can recall, I loved all aspects of communications. At age 8 or 9 I organized and executed a silent auction, unfortunately I had no concept of margins, so every penny raised had to be used to buy the auction item…a box of chocolates! At age 15 I wrote to the main newspaper in Sao Paulo, Brazil (Folha de Sao Paulo) and my short story was published! Weeks later, but it was. Then I had the priviledge to live with an older cousin, who gave me a little preview of TV producing – hanging out at the studios was so much fun! and the after parties!
Then I moved to the US…18 years ago! “Life”, as one would broadly describe it, sort of took me through various jobs, and that’s how they can be best described – just jobs. Family life, traveling a lot and always looking for that “calling” was always present. It was by chance, pure “fabricated” chance, that I came to be where I am today. We have been blessed; blessed that the services are valued by our customers, blessed that the word got out that we are not a recession baby, blessed that we have, through a long journey of reflection, accepted the opportunities to do what we find most joy in…marketing communications. Just a thought – now tell us… are you a recession baby, or truly inspired?
